White Noise Audio CD70 Minutes of Stereo True White Noise This audio compact disc contains 100% genuine white noise, the best quality white noise you can get. So-called "white noise generators", which sell for a lot more, are usually frequency-biased in their attempt to simulate white noise. Other CDs contain audio data generated by a computer program's pseudo-random number generator. While such a technique yields a decent approximation of true white noise, it is a well-known fact that every pseudo-random number generator is repetitive to some degree. Even though you probably won't notice the difference consciously, the human mind has been shown to possess extremely elevated auditory susceptibility while asleep. (You have probably heard of "sleep learning" systems that make use of this very phenomenon.) This CD was produced by incorporating data from natural chaotic systems, thereby obtaining 70 minutes of frequency-neutral and non-repetitive*) white noise. Don't take any chances with your subconscious! Get the "whitest" white noise there is. The white noise has been professionaly recorded at the maximum volume and frequency resolution any audio CD can hold, resulting in a sound that contains every frequency from 0 Hz to 22,050 Hz (22.05 kHz) at equal power, with absolutely no distortion or repetitiveness, in stereo. This is as good as white noise gets! Make no mistake about it! Most any other white noise CD currently offered was recorded using an analog source of white noise, which was first filtered and then converted to the digital format required for any audio CD. This way you not only get the imperfections that every analog white noise source exhibits, but you also lose quality in the amplification and finally in the sampling process (the conversion of the analog signal to the required CD format). And all that before you even put the CD into your system! Not so with this CD: The white noise contained on it has been 100% digitally synthesized and recorded in its original, digital state directly onto the audio CD. The first time this white noise goes through an analog stage is in your CD player. Before that, it is 100% perfect. Please do ask if you have any questions about this. I have personally developed the software which created this white noise from scratch, and unlike other sellers I will be able to give you all the details you might be interested in. If a seller cannot tell you exactly how their white noise was sythesized, chances are it's the typical digital recording of an analog white noise source so many of my customers have told me about after finally finding my white noise CD. Some of them put all white noise CDs they could get their hands on through a spectrum analyzer; Others suffered from tinnitus that was not adequately relieved by any other white noise CD. But one thing they all agree on: No other white noise CD is quite as perfect as this one. I did not emphasize the difference between those other CDs and my own creation very much, because quite frankly I did not believe many customers would hear a significant difference. Today, after receiving such a lot of feedback on the quality of my CD, I take great pride not only in my work, but also the sophistication of my customers who truly appreciate the difference in quality. *) A note on digitally synthesized "white noise" compared to "white noise" from analog sources such as so-called thermal noise, for the scientifically minded: First off, any mathematician will be able to confirm that there really is no such thing as true white noise in the real world, just as there is no such thing as a straight line. These are ideas, and our challenge as manufacturers is to provide you, the customer, with the best possible representation of these ideas. If you buy a ruler, you want it to be as straight and smooth as possible. You know it won't be perfect, because atoms are not straight lines; instead you will expect it to be as good as a ruler can possibly be for its intended purpose. Now, when I created the White Noise CD for my own use, I had to decide which way to go --- analog or digital? Knowing there could never be absolutely perfect white noise in the real world, I decided to weigh the pros and the cons: The audio CD format is digital, so it seemed only natural to go with the digital variety of white noise, because this would allow me to eliminate any and all unnecessary conversion, sampling, and analog manipulation, which by definition add impurities to the white noise. Sure, you can start out with the closest thing to "true white noise" that is currently known to man, thermal noise, but by the time you have your thermal noise data converted to the digital format necessary for an audio CD, you will have added many impurities, no matter how expensive the equipment you were using. And these are impurities you can hear. Contrast that to digitally synthesized "white noise," which, if done right, has no audible impurities whatsoever. The problem with digitally synthesized white noise is that it is theroetically repetitive by definition. Now what that means is that after a certain time, say 10 minutes, you hear the exact same sound again, and again, and again. That is the reason why digital white noise can never be true white noise. But think about it: No matter what kind of white noise you get, once the CD has reached its end, you will play the same CD again, in other words, repeat the same sound. It doesn't matter if you have a billion years' worth of thermal noise data available, you won't be able to fit much more than 70 minutes of it on any audio CD, and after that, it will repeat over and over again. That's how I made the decision to go digital. The only problem I needed to solve was to lower the repetitiveness of my data to an extent that, within the 70 minute window contained on the CD, there is no repetition. And so I did. This is how I know and how you can be sure that my White Noise CD is the closest thing to "ideal white noise" you can get in an audio CD. But fortunately you, my valued customer, do not have to become a Nobel laureate. All you want is the best white noise CD for your purpose, be it to help you baby sleep or to mask the barking of your neighbor's dog.
